‘Meant to Be’

I had a chance last night to lay down another few tracks for some of the other songs I am working on… (yes, I should have some-sort of a CD together soon - - I’ll keep everyone posted!) I was actually able to finish the vocals on ‘Meant to Be’. Here are the lyrics!

vs. 1
Rise up, My love, and take up your cross - it’s time to follow Me;
Around the battle rages, but if you will trust - faith will make you see.
The race is to the one who swiftly finds the road, within the narrow way.
Grab onto your armor and reach onward now - it’s time to seize the day…

And go, and speak a kind word -
Go, and give to eat -
And go, lift up your eyes and see,
Be who you were meant to be…

Humble yourself in the sight of God - and He will lift you up -
Ask your God for wisdom, and in times of doubt - He will be enough.
Stand upon the promises that He has made - Spend time alone with Him…
Stand fast in who He is - Committing now - give your heart to Him - -

And go, and speak a kind word -
Go, and give to eat -
And go, lift up your eyes and see,
Be who you were meant to be…

‘In You’ Rough Recording

I am actually using an external sound card interface (M-audio), and for some reason I can’t get the levels right - - the vocals always come out distorted when exported to MP3!

I should be putting something of better quality together soon :)

‘Go On’ Rough Recording

…don’t try to snap your fingers to the music - it’s much easier to record with only accoustic piano!

I Just Wanna’ Go On

Yesterday, at around 4:30PM, I was standing in the Del Mar conference room at work, just watching the sunset - - this song came into my mind… hopefully I’ll have a chance to record and post it soon -

vs.1
Standin’ here watchin’ the sun go down,
Just thinkin’ of how You’ve turned this life around -
I’m singin’ away this prayer to You -
So thankful for the things You’ve brought me through…
An’ I know there have been times along this way -
Oh, when my heart has drifted - far away from You…

Chorus:
Oh, but I don’t wanna go on livin’ those days
I don’t wanna dwell on findin’ all the ways - that I could turn my heart from You…
I don’t wanna go on fearing the past -
I just wanna go on livin’ for those things that are gonna last - oh,
I just wanna go on - - -

vs.2
Sittin’ here watching the clouds go by
I’m dreamin’ of You as I look to the - sky…
I know that You planted all these things in me -
They lift me up as I start to - Fly….
Oh God, I’m so amazed…

‘Oh God, I’m so amazed.’

“Security in Marriage”

“Security in Marriage”

Pastor Chris Chadwick

4.6.08

Eph. 5:21-30

“Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God. Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing. Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:”

“Marriage is intended to be a wonderful experience! Today we are going to focus on six truths from the Scripture for the husband. To have a happy and fulfilling marriage, each man here this morning needs to realize that his wife needs security.

1. She needs to be secure in you EMOTIONALLY - Eph. 6:25-28. As the husband, you are the head of the home! You have been empowered by Christ to be a strong husband. The man is to be the stable entity in the relationship. Being strong does not mean being hard or cold - it means that you will be courageous in each situation that life brings your way; and it also means that you can take your wife’s criticism, and handle her opinions.

2. She needs to be secure in you PHYSICALLY - 1 Peter3. She needs to know that someone is going to protect her physically!

3. She needs to be secure in you FINANCIALLY - 1 Peter 5:8. She needs to be secure in the financial decisions that you make! Make smart decisions.

4. She needs to be secure in your LOVE - This love cannot be just an intellectual love; It must be sincere and from the heart. Other than God, your wife should be the most important person in your life - treat her that way!

5. She needs to be secure in your LONGING for her - Prov. 5:1-5. There are plenty of other forces out there that want your time and heart - make sure that you make your wife your only desire, and make sure that she knows you are only longing after her. Prov. 5:15-16

6. She needs to be secure in you SPIRITUALLY - Eph. 5:25.

Faith - The Precondition for Reason

It’s awesome to know that I as a Christian I base my Faith in the logic of the Scriptures. It is a farse for an unbeliever to assume that the Christian makes a profession of faith based upon truth that cannot be founded - with a closer look and an open mind, I believe even the most aggressive athiest would agree with the logic of the Christian Faith.

In You

picture-00955555.jpg Recently, our staff had a retreat in Big Bear, CA. It was a wonderful time to draw close to each other, and more importantly to seek God and His will for His church. I found a few minutes to myself and the words to this song/poem just seemed to flow…

You made the sun to rise each morning, to welcome the day;
You made the moon to shine each evening, to light the darkened way;
And You made me for a reason - You called me as Your own;
And it’s my joy to love You, alone…

You created all the beauty - I see around me now;
Canyons vast and snow-capped mountains, each making Yourself known.
From the rivers to the forests, Your greatness plain to see;
And it’s a wonder that You care, for me…

I see Your beauty in each sunset, and in each smiling face;
Every time a child’s delivered - and the wonders out in space.
All the complexity I see around me now,
Only leads me to believe -

They only lead me to believe…

…in You.

What have we sacrificed?

john_betty_stam_medium.gif It was a bleak December day in brick-walled Tsingteh [today spelled Jingde] in South Anhwei, China, when rumors began to sift through of a possible bandit attack on the city. Farther to the south the muddied waters of the mighty Yangtze rolled through Wuhu, past Nanking, Chenkiang and Kiangyin to stain the blue waters of the Pacific. But no echo of the world’s commerce ruffled the secluded city of Tsingteh this day in 1934. Hidden like a jewel in the heart of rugged natural beauty, Tsingteh was accessible to the outside world only by stone paths cut through the mountains.

John and Betty Stam were not the first missionaries to find their way to this isolated community of people, but they were the first to settle there as a family. Their first child, newborn Helen Priscilla - beautiful with blue eyes, innocent face, and curly hair - gladdened the hearts of the young couple. A rented shopfront on a stone-flagged street served as their home and preaching chapel as well.

John had already demonstrated remarkable facility in speaking Chinese. Fresh from language school in Anking he had attended a spiritual life conference led by Dr. James Graham for Chinese believers. Listening intently, John took careful notes. Immediately afterwards, with surprising effectiveness, the new missionary reproduced these messages in Chinese at a summer conference in nearby Sucheng. Now, however, he was married and wholly on his own for the first time on the mission field.
